Think about the purpose of your photos:

Getting technology can always be a little messy. There are plenty of offers in cameras, so the best is to be clear about our purpose: Do we want to take pictures of landscapes? Casual Photography? Friends? Do we want to have a light and easy-to-transport gear or want to have good professional equipment?

These alternatives will guide you in your search. If you are thinking of a group of interchangeable lenses, we recommend the Nikon or Canon SLRs. There are cheap models that meet all the necessary functions for your trip.

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, we recommend entry level cameras, they do not have a reflex mechanism but have good sensors, long-range zoom and advanced options such as setting speed, and white balance adjustment also diaphragm settings. Panasonic Lumix cameras are in the highlights of this group.

Plan your photographic gear:

A lens hood and a UV filter are very useful in a photo safari. If we travel north Argentina we will find places with lots of sunlight, so it is good to be prepared for rays do not disturb our images. A tripod is also helpful. We recommend not buying those small tripods with legs under 30cm. It is better to invest a little more and have a tripod that permits us to locate the camera safely at good height and stable throughout the ground.

Do not dismiss small cameras:

A photo safari in Salta and Jujuy means median to long walks through mountains, lakes and streams. Therefore, we must think on a good gear, lightweight, resistant to weather conditions of wind and sand. We should not dismiss the use of pocket cameras, currently Nikon, Canon and Sony offer good options including some interesting tools to adjust some parameters on the photo shots. They are lightweight cameras; some have a good zoom and in many cases combine lenses and sensors of a DSLR within the body of a handheld device.

1 – Know your camera before you travel:

If your camera is new we recommend that you take the time to meet most of its functionalities. Whether a camera very simple or very advanced, all functions can bring advantage on a trip such as white balance, exposure time orsize of the diaphragm. The more we know of these features have a better result.

2 – Observe the general plans and details

When you get to northern Argentina you will find a great scenery, but also with  hidden situations among the people of different tows or villages. Therefore we recommend that you learn to observe at different levels. It helps us not to take pictures compulsively, but stop and think about what you want to display. We must learn to imagine what our photos would be, preview them in our heads. Thus we will have a good story told on fewer images.

3 – Managing light and composition

There are two key elements for anyone who wants good pictures. Observation and composition are two human tasks that cannot be controlled by the camera. How we handle the light is the subject bonus of our technique. Knowing the times of sunrise and sunset, how to take photos outdoors and indoors, compensate the exposure, are tasks that we can learn with patience and dedication.

4 – Take care of your equipment

The Northern Argentina is characterized by the presence of a lot of dust in the air accompanied by a hot sun during the most part of the day. Also there are humid regions with high rainfall. All these climatic factors can harm your gadgets in an adventure holiday. Therefore we recommend to always wear a protective bag, filters UV and waterproof bags to protect our equipment from any foreign agent that can damage any component.
